Write protected

Bought I cheap flash drive 128gb worth a go....have read that u need a quality 1 for recording mind and my 8gb Kingston has been fine on other box...didn't work in box yet was fine for transferring films ect between pcs but since been plugged into box pc can't read it can't format anything just says write protected any advice or just bin it (used hddguru and easeeu partition manager so far)

couple of questions.....

1. your zgemma is saying write protected yeah? if yes, then from my experience i would reformat to fat in a pc then stick it back in the sat box. initalise it then convert to ext4.

2. is timeshift on? if yes, then that's basically writing all the time.
 
No pc is saying write protected and zgemma is giving an error message when I plug it in....think it's cheap flash drive

Where did you buy the cheap stick from eBay? If so it's probably not 120gb. The sticks can be hacked to show a different storage capacity.

What's it's speed rating?
