Thanks . Very useful. Did you try to use with the existing EU Mars as it looks like 88e and 95e should still work on EU package without changing to Global Mars?

Well just set it how you wish, the speeds i mentioned were due to speaking with another user on another forum. When I mentioned that my speed was X he said that he had his at 8.0 with no issues. I set mine to that I have had no issues.

Yeah stabs are slow i use and like them though very reliable. Shame company went bust an no longer made.

Well i tried to do some speed tests from 42 east to 30 west using settings 1-8. I have to say in my case results were inconclusive and on the whole took near enough the same time on a stopwatch.
 
Yeah exactly on the reliability side, I had a Technomate that only lasted a couple of years before freezing and it wouldn't turn even off the buttons.

It was strange as when I took it apart and disconnected and reconnected the ribbon cables that did burst back into life.

Bought the Stab and never looked back and we get some heavy wind off the moors.
 
Morning lads, I'm considering buying a V8 ultra at the weekend. The lad selling it tells me it'll open everything. I've currently lnbs pointed at 28 19 13 16 and a 1.2m dish fixed to 1 west. Am I going to be disappointed with the box or should I be able to pull in a fair bit?

Just make sure you get the right box. Those with gt media boxes will advise but some don't open all packages. If you get the right one and it will open the same channels as the viarks boxes. 28.2 19 and 13 are open along with 16e digi albania and many other packages.

For what you want the box to get is the gt media v8 uhd with access to the European mars server.The boxes are available on a well known auction site for between £62 - £80 depending on how quickly you want it.The cheapest i can see at the moment for 12 months access to the European mars server is just under £30 .

If it comes with mars included you wont be disappointed.

@kegnkiwi is spot on a lot open on the V8UHD with mars on those sats

As said, aslong as it's the v8 UHD and it has the Mars Europe line then you will be fine.

I would get this model V8UHD if it does not come with the paid channels included you will need to get a Mars package.

Hey guys,

Started out on sat before switching to IPTV, but wouldn't mind having both at the moment. I've gone through the pages but wanted to ask if my understanding is correct?
  • Viark boxes are spanish boxes which come preloaded with PT (Forever) subs
  • These need to be converted to specific Sky UK subs with the first 6 months
  • I can only order from Spain/EU
  • I need to follow the tutorial by kegnkiwi
  • Modding reduces the sub
The questions I have are:
  • Do you have to have a motorised dish or does a normal dish pointed at Sky (28.2e) work?
  • How do you re-sub or take out a sub to Viark/PT?
  • What does SP1/SP2 mean?
  • How do I know I'm within the 6 months when I buy my box?
Any help appreciated.

If its just for Uk satellite i would get the Gt media V8UHD box they are available from Uk suppliers. Its the same server runs on both boxes.

No, you would need to buy the box (ebay etc), then flash it with Mars firmware, then buy the Europe Mars server seperately (use google to findout where) and add the line to the box.

The viarks come with the server already installed. so just need flashing with PT firmware and then you need to convert that to sp1.

If you buy the viark sat 4k initially you get 3-year's basic sub included in the box, if you upgrade to sp1 you lose 1 year of that 3 year sub but you then get 2 years premium sub including sky.
SP2 is like SP1 but you get some iptv channels too.
