What's new

IPTV oscam hdhr my brain is exploding

Suspect

Newbie
I'm pretty new to this whole world — I honestly thought IPTV was just about M3U playlists and that was it... but boy what was I wrong🤣. I'm now trying to set up live TV within my own home network, and I already have Emby up and running. Now I want to integrate live TV into that setup.
I've been reading and searching a lot (also using AI tools), but I’d really like some real-world perspective from people who have actually done this.
I kind of understand the flow (tuners → TVHeadend → media server → client), but it’s still a bit vague to me.

What I want:
  • At least 4 tuners
  • Recording support
  • CCCam/OSCam for encrypted channels
  • TVHeadend running as Docker on my Unraid server

What I got:
  • An Unraid server
  • Running Plex / Emby / Channels DVR
  • I live in the Netherlands
  • I have a coax cable connection in the house

My Questions:
  • What hardware do I actually need? There’s so much info out there…
  • Should I get an HDHomeRun, a Formuler, or an Enigma2 box with WooshBuild?
  • What would you personally recommend for 4 tuners and OSCam/TVH setup?
  • Or you recommend to stick with IPTV? I think CCCAM is more stable?

Any tips, experience, or even hardware suggestions would be hugely appreciated

Thanks in advance!

Not sure exactly what you are trying to do, but seems complicated 99% of people put some TV box /stick on each TV , (android or whatever) and put the TV apps on that. TV app + Emby etc etc.

Or if they are a smart TV they have apps built in.

Not sure about the satellite side of it, not too much experience of that since card sharing stopped.

I wasn’t aware that providers had blocked or phased it out. That came as a surprise, so now it seems IPTV is the only real option left for accessing certain (encrypted) channels. But here's where I run into problems...

The issues I'm facing with IPTV:

  • Stability: In my experience, IPTV (especially unofficial/grey sources) tends to be quite unstable. Streams often freeze, buffer, or drop entirely.
  • Multi-user limitation: Most IPTV accounts only allow one stream at a time.
    • I’m trying to set this up for 4 people to be able to watch TV in the same household/network.
    • That means I’d need to configure 4 separate IPTV accounts, one for each stream.
  • TVHeadend / xTeVe complications:
    • When I add multiple IPTV accounts (M3U playlists) to TVHeadend or a proxy like xTeVe, I end up with the same channels listed multiple times — once for each account.
    • This clutters the EPG and makes it confusing to manage.

My questions:

  • Is there a smart way to handle multi-user IPTV setups without duplicating the entire channel list?
  • Any suggestions for a stable IPTV provider that allows more than 1 simultaneous stream?
  • Are there better alternatives to IPTV these days if I want multi-room live TV?

Do you have a motorised satellite dish?
Some of your ideas are outdated, -wooshbuild? - it's been defunct since before the pandemic.
You're over complicating it, why do you need four tuners?
What are you likely to record? Sports?

Okay, yeah I kindda make it to complicated... No I dont have a motrised satellite dish. I need four tuners for my household. Sometimes we record 2 things at the same time and watching at 2 tv's at the same time. Thats why the 4 tuners just to be sure.

What would you recommend me?

You can get four android devices, firesticks or something more expensive if you want more processor power.
Then get an iptv sub with multiroom, 2, 3 or 4 connections, the supplier will provide the android player to install on each device.
Put your login details on each device and you can watch four different channels at the same time.
Recording iptv is hit and miss and not really worth bothering with using android.
It's hit and miss using any device.
Recording isn't really required because most providers have 7 days catch up on their main channels

you need to ask your supplier for a multiroom connection, you need to decide how many tvs you wish to use at the same time, so for example if you are going to use 4 tvs at once you would ask for 4 connections. You use the same login details on each device. no iptv is 100% , you might get the odd buffer, but it shoudn't be the norm.

There is satelite options search for the viark thread.

get some trials , say you will need multiroom in the future.

Aah okay thank you. There is 1 thing. I dont want seperate apps but want to intregrate it onto channels dvr or emby. I got an apple tv so android boxes is no need for me. You guys helped me onto the right direction thank you

Thank you I will try to find out how it works!

there is an app for apple, think its called tivimax , its like tivimate for android which is decent. I would find a decent supplier first then mess around with emby / dvrs next.

You could purchase a panel from a certain Chinese site and mange your own IPTV play lists . You can find all the info on Reddit. r/IPTVGroupBuy, mods delete this if it’s not allowed please.

FYI satellite card sharing has not ended, you could have both satellite and iptv.
I did edit my post to say about viark options. Although I know not much about it. There are more learned people on here that know more

The story that E2 card sharing went away because it stopped on sky sports 10 years ago is misinformation. Today with a decent euro line with a softcam and motorised setup I can open numerous channels across the arc. If you're looking to view channels and record at the same time then I'd suggest you look at a multi lnb system, at my old place I had a 80cm triax dish with multifeed bar, for 13e, 19e, 23e, 28e, three of which were unicable lnb's, I was able to feed to two boxes in the house, and record and watch tv at the same time.

Yes it's avaliable but quite a big outlay
.motorised dish. Etc
. Box
. Someome to setup unless you can do it yourself.

A good iptv sub in my opinion is probably a simpler solution and just as good really.

I suggested a multifeed system not a motorised system, obviously the OP's budget is up to him, he mentioned being able to record programs and watch live tv, hence why iptv might not be the only solution.

The multifeed system do you need a dish? Or can you use the coaxial cable or the antenna tv cable connection that is in my house? Im trying to find more information but im getting more and more sucked in into the maze 🤣

You will need 80cm satellite dish multi l.n.b holder bullet l.n.bs 4×1 Disqec switch .If you
want to use .Wave Frontier 90cm Torodial Dish, you will need 8×1 Disqec switch or multiswitch .All the cables from the l.n.bs are
connected into separate ports in the Disqec
switch Then the main cable supply will connect
to tunner A or tunner B ,if you are using enigma2
.popular recievers are Zgemma or Octagon supreme. Its best to keep it as simple as possible
