How to flash Arnet Kryptview - Firmware Loading Guide / Tutorial .

Could someone offer some advice. Downloaded firmware onto KV box (using the correct cable) with no probs. Got an issue with the s/w, it doesn't seem to load. Tried all previous suggestions on the forum but not getting anywhere. The box is also only picking up basic FTA channels not all. Just keep getting scrambled/no video. Any advice would be appreciated please?

thats the problem you downloaded a firmware but what date is it,probably an old one and you will need to do a software update by remote
[ s/w ] first to bring it upto the latest firmware, you did remove the sticker on rear to find the cat5/lan connection,do the s/w update and let box reboot then do a factory reset/rescan.

Cactikid is pointing you in the right direction,

I am assuming from your post you are getting a full channel list, and therefore have scanned on the correct net id,
if this is the case it is most likely a problem with your internet connection.

If your box is connected to your router directly or via homeplugs, then reset your router, easy way is just unplug it for about 30 secs
or stick a pin in the little reset hole keep it pressed in until all the lights stop flashing, and wait for it to reboot.

If that doesnt work do a software update from your remote, method mentioned in this thread a couple of posts back
post back and let us know how you get on

a number of people are having problems in updating try late at night or first thing, and as bees suggests a network reboot of all units maybe needed.

thanks folks. Yes got the most up to date firmware and yes it's listing the channels so got the correct ID. Will try all your suggestions. Cheers.

Hi wheelywheely :)

If you have flashed your Kryptview with this firmware and your S/W update just stays appearing frozen, then that usually is telling you that you that you do not have a internet connection to the box. Unless there is a problem with the Kryptview server ofcourse. The S/W update should either say "already updated with the latest firmware" or it should automaticaly start updating in around 10 or 20 seconds or so.

In this case (at the time of my post)I have just selected S/W update to check the server is working for updates and my box is staying on searching for update also. So it looks like it may be a problem at the Kryptview server end. Hopefuly if you try again later today or tomorrow it may kick in no problem.

Try flashing your box with the firmware I have linked and try again. If still a problem and you are sure you have live ethernet\Internet cable attached. Then you can only wait if it is a Kryptview server problem to do a S/W update to latest firmware.

Hope that helps a bit,
jodav :)

Hi jodav

thanks for reply. I have had murder with the BB over the last few wks and thought the s/w upgrade was a prob at my BB end. just moved over from starview. so i can retry again and maybe the server may b fixed like you say soon.Sometimes you think your going mad or read things wrong.

Is there any value in getting a gold plated scart lead from KV to tv. Is it an improved audio or visual signal or kiddology. Thanks for any support.

Hi wheelywheely :)

I dont use a gold plated one wheelywheely and have no problems, I would only get one if getting continual audio or visual probs as a last resort, but I do not think in general that you would notice a change in quality.

Looking about a bit it does look like the update side of the server is down, and so no telling when it will be back in action again. It is not usually down too long though.

The linked firmware should I believe still work though (Im not 100% certain mind), and so if flashed with it you should hopefuly be able to do a factory default (in the installation section) then an automatic search in your area and get the channels. Then do the update when server is right. The server is working no problem at the minute regarding everything but the S/W update, channels OK.

Here are a few tips and tricks for the kryptview

Good Luck,
jodav :)

has anyone a clue wots the best net ID if live in n-rth lpoool area.
i tried knowsley 2 however ive read today someone was using a Manc-ID for lpoool area. an was working ok for them. my area has 4 or more choices.

My mate BoxT helped me out on this one about 2 days ago..straight up.! find someone in your area with a "genuine vermin subs" and in their main menu is an engineers bit..go into it and it will show some numbers for area code/id... copy them down and then when you do a factory default you can match them up with the appropiate on net id list.. i am deep essex so have 4 diff ones for basildon...or go through each one to see who has the most Transponders.eg 11/11 or 58/58

someone else now posted 11112012 hence the query

That someone else is right cacti. I S/W updated my box a couple of hours ago and never thought to check again once flashed. I have just done so and it has updated again to 11\11\2012. For some reason it looks like you have to do these updates sequentially one at a time (at least at present).

So to confirm, 2 S/W updates done. And the latest firmware is in fact 11\11\2012.
