Complete signal loss

Apologies for such a general question and feel free to delete mods if no allowed but I called in to my elderly uncle's house yesterday cos he said he was getting no channels, I thought it might be a HDMI cable issue but it turns out he has no signal at all on 28.2.
I went out the back to have a look at his dish, it's up a decent height so hard to tell but it looks fine and so does the LNB.
What is the usual culprit for a complete signal loss or is that a question that just can't be answered?
I suspect it's either a loose cable at the LNB or else rain has got in at the cable, unfortunately I had no access to a ladder to get up and check. :(
Never thought to take a picture

Answered your own question.

Total loss of signal is probably a bad LNB or connection to it.

Could also be the dish has moved out of alignment.

That's defo a possibility but I'd imagine it would've had to move significantly for complete signal loss, if wind had moved it a bit I'd imagine it would still register a bit of signal.
While I was there I spoke with his neighbour, she was saying she had lost loads of channels so I offered to rescan the channels for her, her dish is about 3 meters away from my uncle's dish and she was getting 100% signal.

If its a loose cable at the LNB, you won't receive anything, even if the dish hasn't moved at all, the cable connected to the box is effectively not connected to the dish in this scenario

you don't say what equipment he is using? ie is it official sat box or is it an E2 box? if an E2 box, have you checked the box's signal finder and or done an automatic scan (both in Reception menu) to see if any channels are picked up?

It's a revez combi box, defo not E2.
0% signal quality so didn't bother doing any scan.
I noticed he has a quad LNB on his dish so next time I'm up with him I'll bring a spare cable and I'll know then if the LNB is the issue.
He's just waiting to get a loan of a ladder from a neighbour.
