Found a 'The Box Super USB' (Starview 4?) Is it any good or not? Advice appreciated

Hi everyone,

I just found a 'The Box Super USB' (is it a Starview 4?) in a skip!
Is it still any use or should I just tat it for parts?

I've had a read and most of the talk seems to be about the 6 or 7 era boxes.
I've a vague idea of what it is and does.

Im in Nottingham with a V.M. net connection but no TV service from them, only landline.
Been using an Y sonnector with a F to UHF adapter to watch terrestrial channels but they've died one by one over the last week.

In a flat with a shite roof Ariel that I cant get to and change for a digital one.
Id just be happy to get the Freeview channels via cable but Im not sure what needs to be done.

Im pretty techy, I mess with PIC programming etc, but this is a new scene for me.
All hints or help would be great!

Oh well, worth an ask.

Shame it wont even get the free channels but thats progress I suppose...
Theres a moderately useful 3.3V, 5V, 7V, 12V PSU inside that should come in useful for something.

Added after 49 minutes:

Never one to be told, I plugged it in.

The last channel that was on the cable as analogue, BBC1, dropped off last night.
So nothing to lose, and an annoyed girlfriend.

And it DOES in fact work!
Found the terrestrial channels, E4+1, and several other lame channels.
havent clicked through all the possiblities cos girlfriend wants to watch the news.
Got no remote so I cant do anything other than channel up and down.

Anyone know if Universal Remotes work on these boxes?
Be nice to retune etc and see if I can get any more...

I know its not really worth messing with the thing but as I say we dont have a digital ariel installed yet and no Virgin TV.
Since we've been good little consumers for several years now I'll call their retentions department and see if they'll send us one of their cable freeview boxes for nowt.
