How to Install NBC Sports Extra Live for XBMC KODI

  • Open XBMC / Kodi
  • Select SYSTEM > Settings

  • Select XBMC.org Add-Ons if you are on Kodi select Kodi Add-On Repository

  • Select Video Add-Ons

  • Select NBC Sports Live Extra - if NBC doesn't appear in your list then you will need to manually download and install it from here. Very easy to do but if you need help then let me know.

  • Select Install

  • Wait for Add-On Enabled Notification

Go back to home screen


  • Select VIDEOS > Add-Ons

  • Select NBC Sports Live Extra

  • Select Live & Upcoming

Now what you should see is a list of events marked in blue and future events marked in orange. You can only select the events that are currently live (the blue ones). If an event is marked orange you will see the time that the event is live and available to view at the end of the listing. The time should be local time.
If you experience buffering with this plugin then this will help:


  • Go to XBMC Home Screen
  • Select SYSTEM
  • Select Add-ons
  • Select Enabled Add-ons
  • Select NBC Sports Live Extra
  • Change Stream Quality to SD 1400kbit/s
Trying to get pure vpn to work with the android box was difficult after searching around I found hotspot shield was the easiest to use just download the android app from play store and start it then start xbmc/kodi USA is the auto region select even in the free version (limited on bandwidth). I upgraded to elite version for about £20 a year (at the time of posting) and even with the epected speed drop whilst using vpn the streaming quality of 3pm matches was good.

Got it up and running but on a day with nothing live i will await the saturday games.
top tip about the hotspot shield.

This means your nbcsn addon hasn't been updated so hasn't got the fix. I have uploaded the one with the fix do the usual system>add ons>install by zip navigate to where the nbcsn zip file and you are ready to watch the 3 pm footy, make sure hotspot sheild is set to USA.

I am not sure kodi is fully implemented for E2 receivers, on all other platforms the method to install add ons is the same i.e system>add ons>install by zip.

Ah cheers, got it working now using the free version of hot spot shield. Had to download it from aptoide, for some reason play store won't let me download anything on my droid box. When it comes to download anything it says cannot connect to server. How do I sign up for unlimited bandwidth on hotspot shield, I can't seem to find any option in the app


I've tried various VPNs but I'm having the same issue with everyone of them at moment, works fine, golf channel works, full replays work, but if I try to use any if the other live streams it keeps discinecing me after 11 seconds or so. Let's me connect straight back to the stream but then does the same. I know it's always 11 seconds because when stream has stopped it always tells you how long it was running for. Any ideas?
