I recently carried out a friend and family paypal transaction MBNA credit card source of payment. I received my bill today and I have been charged an additional Cash Fee, is this a new fee?

I have never had this additional charge before with similar transactions.

Maybe some updates from paypal

I’ve experienced that as well. Besides withdrawing cash from ATMs, there are other transactions that credit card companies may classify as cash advances. These include transfers to individuals (e.g., PayPal payments to friends and family), purchases of cryptocurrencies, or purchases of prepaid cards.

Quote (PayPal):
If you make a cash advance purchase with a credit or debit card, the card provider may charge a cash advance fee. PayPal has no control over third-party fees. To avoid incurring fees when making a cash advance purchase, you may want to use a different payment method, such as your bank account or an eCheque (if available).

What extra fee did you have to pay percentage wise.

The only fees that I am aware of are Card Fees and Currency Conversion Fees. Is there something else I now need to be aware of?

transaction was for £80 of which I was charged an additional fee of £2.99 (expected because of no funds in my account) total was £82.99 and on top of this I was charged this extra cash fee of £4.15.

I spoke to the Credit Card company and they said that there is an additional Cash Fee for Paypal payments with Friends and Family and it's the same with most credit card companies.

So are you saying you have never had the extra fee when using a credit card before and this extra payment is a recent new fee that has been added?
If so then as mentioned maybe PayPal or the credit card companies have changed their policy regarding fees.
But you should see two fees as mentioned when using a credit card 2.9% and fixed fee.

I never had this extra fee before. I guess that some credit cards have different policies and make a charge for this extra fee. I will stick to my debit card next time for friends and family paypal payments.
