From today my Mutant hd51 has started acting weird, it won't respond to the Handset and sometimes when you press a button it just goes mad like going up and down a menu without stopping!
I have changed the battery and even tried a generic handset but still the same.
I rebooted and even unplugged but no change.
I regularly flash it and it was flashed 2 weeks ago with latest Openflix.
The only thing I can think of doing is factory reset but am a bit reluctant.
Any ideas or replies would be appreciated

Have you tried openwebif you can use a virtual remote on that to see if it works ok. Might be easier to reflash it.

I will give that a try later, managed to get the recording on today but it's getting the window to play with viewing other stuff, so will play again on Monday

I've had this problem.
It's the batteries in the remote, get a few different sets, the replacement ones you tried are probably duffers
I originally thought that but the generic one was exactly the same, I will try other batteries though cheers

Sorted it out! You were right the batch of batteries I had were duffers.
I got some energisers from the paper shop this morning and all good.
Thank you and a thank you to @moshibeth for the response and help
