Services Cheaper With VPN’s

I think you can avoid having to give Google any phone number if you use the actual Google App (e.g. on iphone) to 'create' the account (i.e. use the app, NOT a web browser).
So, download the Google App + turn on VPN (e.g. to Mexico); open the Google App, click at the top right "Manage" / "Add account" then "create", go through all the steps (name, DOB etc), then it'll say "Add Phone Number" *but* if you scroll to the bottom you can click 'Skip'.. et voila! At least, that's how it used to work..!
Sounds right. I do it through the gmail app on my phone.

For anyone trying to sign up to Optus Sport and struggling with the mobile number verification, I managed to get around this by setting up an australian prepaid eSim from Lebara on my iPhone: Lebara 30-Day Plan | Free Pay As You Go SIM Card

The 5 day plan cost $5.00 AUD (about £2.80)

Activated fine in the UK, roamed onto 3 UK and I was able to receive texts free of charge.

Which credit card did you use to verify your ID? I managed to pay but failed at that stage.

Good tip,
eSIM s are handy, I've used them a few times in Europe, as long as you only need them for a short period of time.

Anyone who considering signing up to Vidio for EPL, I have been testing their streams on website, not really impressed tbh........Id wait until EPL starts and then see how well they do with that
Vidio - 100% agree - that was my view of it too. I'm still hoping (I'm naive  ) that their quality will massively improve when EPL starts. I guess it's good as an 'emergency back-up' if nothing else

I used my Chase Visa credit card just to verify. It is a US registered card though so maybe that makes a difference?

I actually paid with PayPal though.

I assume you took that out with Chase in the US rather than the UK?

On a side note - we could do with an OTP request thread on this forum 😆

Correct, I work for an American company so it’s an American registered business credit card.

An OTP request thread would be a good idea! I’m not sure if services register the phone number to the account though?

I’ve got a couple of days left on my pay as you go Aussie SIM and I’m happy to share the number and PM anyone with the code if needed. But Optus might see the number as already used and tied to my account.

on the OTP front,
I regularly travel through Europe, mostly Northern, and dont mind buying SIMs for anyone,
but that may not be viable as most of the good deals seem to come from more Southern countries, and countries outside Europe.
anyhow, if anyone wants a Danish, Swedish, German, Dutch , Spanish , Austrian, Swiss , etc, SIM, Im more than happy to help , if and when Im transiting
