Skybox F5 the FTA channels are glithing and freezing ITV BBC1

Wondering if someone could help or knows the answer. My F5 box has been working fine until now it has started to glitch and freeze on the FTA channels such as ITV and BBC 1.
It is also doing the same on ITV2 ITV4 - I know this has nothing to do with service provider as this line works fine in another box I have tired it in. Not sure why the FTA channels like ITV and BBC1 would be glitching and picture freezing since these channles do not require a internet connection.

I have already tried a fireware update via both usb and the null modem cable but this has not solved the problem. also done a channel update but again no joy and still the problem is there!

Anyone came across this problem before? Thanks
 
the FTA channels doesnt go through the server (line) as you said and its only the aerial that is needed for them. i would assume there is a loose connection on the aerial. try wiggling the aerial and if you see the same glitching or freezing you can narrow the problem down.

what the signal rate on the channels FTA (snr) press info. If low your dish needs realigned, you should be up in the high 80s into the 90s with FTA

Already tried that and it's the same also I've tried my mates v8s box on the same wire and them channels work perfectly so problem lies with the box I guess

SNR is 77% it's been the same for a while plus tried a mates box with same wire with no problems
 
77 is very low for FTA, I would certainly look at tweaking your dish. My FTA on my dreambox are 100%. If I have this on FTA I'm confident my dish is in no need for alignment and all my channels are tip top.
So what do you HD channels show? Have you taken your box to your mates as his dish may provide a better signal rate to see the difference
 
sorry got it wrong the SNR is 85% on the FTA ones, this is for ITV HD and BBC1 HD ones. the picture is freezing on a handful of channels which is ITV HD, BBC1 HD, ITV2 HD, both BT SPORTS 1 and 2 HD, and SETANTA HD.
I haven't tried my box at my mates, but I tried his box at my house and them channels worked fine. I know its not my server line either as I have tried that in my mates box at my house and all working fine. so the problem I think seems to be with the box itself I thought a fireware upgrade may have sorted this but it has not. Seems like the problem is only on the HD channels apart from ESPN HD

Don't think a firmware upgrade is required for FTA channels. Had a guy a couple of weeks ago, funnily enough with the same channels including BT sports HD, half time during the Rangers game, fire a ladder up and took his signal into the 90s with no issues after that.
if you can access your dish you should try tweaking it, just a little, I think this is your problem.
Also if the box has been working fine then it all points to dish alignment
 
ok thanks for your help - but if it was my dish or the alignment of it then surely the same problem would have been happening on my mates box when I tried his at my house.
 
Maybe so, but these boxes are cheap and as you can see from the forum very temprimentel to say the least.
you only need to look at the Openbox/ skybox threads to seed all the boxes with issues the same as yours

yes I guess they are temperamental, I have 2 dishes up as I got a multiroom installed from sly last month ( got the engineer to put another dish up) and I have just tested the box of both feeds to test if it is the alignment but the problem is the same when connected to either dish, ive had the F5 box for a few years I guess its served its purpose its time for a new box now. - thanks for the help garyth.

got sly and sly multi room running of one dish .. also left the old dish up and running the F5 off that jus wanted this running of a separate feed

If your still using legit services, why don't you invest in a vu box and do away with sly. Surely it would be worth it after a couple of months!
 
Hi Guys, Was there a conclusion to this issue? I have the same issue but it seems to be only BBC1 whether its england, scotland, wales and nothern ireland they are all pixelating to some degree. I don't have the normal aerial cable connected to this tv. Other rooms are with no problem.
All Sky channels are fine.
Run latest channel update, with no improvement?
Can someone list there channel frequency's for me to try manually?

Why did you request a new dish?? If the LNB cennections were full he would have just upgraded to an octo etc.??
