Stream to a chrome book?

Hi,
Has anyone managed to successfully stream from open webif to a chromebook?
I can do on windows no problem with vlc as the player but when I do on chrome os it doesnt play.
Trying to avoid KODI if I can as not for me and the user is not tech savvy, the openwebif link auto opening the stream in an app would be ideal
I have searched but unable to find about chrome OS(most seem to direct to chrome browser on windows)
Many thanks in advnace

Surely you just need to type the zgemmas IP address into a web browser and you can watch anything on a laptop, PC or Chromebook through Open Webif. Just need to click on the web TV tab.

It's been a while since I used this method, think I'm remembering it correctly.

Obviously needs to be on the same network.

Hi,
the missing step is the video stream needs to load into a player such as VLC, but I cannot get this to open on a chrome book, any suggestions gratefully received if there is a setup step I have missed out
thanks

Can you install apk files on a chromebook? If so you could download dreamplayer app and put your ip adress of your box in that would work ?

I don't think I can install apps as they are android files, I have vlc installed but can't work out why it won't stream the same as on Windows.
