I have tried to read up and work out the problem myself with no luck.

I am a total newbie so I am sorry if this has been asked before.

I bought the box from an online auction site not sure i can name it but i am sure you can guess!

I went into upgrade by network and upgraded the firmware and channel list. when i look at the info it says software version 3511HD_10_08_2015_06b7 is the the correct?

I entered all the details for the test cline in using the remote not the usb. It looked like it was going ok. It said reboot needed so i turned off and unplugged the box. When i plugged it back in only free channels were working. i went back in to the ccam and it is showing as offline. I thought maybe it was a problem with the cline so i tried another test line i was given. the same thing happened.

I did notice that not all the free channels work none of the channel 5 stations are working. I tried 5 5* and all just show black screen.
When i choose what the epg says is syfy it works but its not syfy its actually tinypop.

Have i messed up and done something wrong or is it just a dodgy box?

TIA
Yelly

You could try and reboot your router to get your line working. Just power off your box, then reboot your router, when you get internet back then power on your box and see if that works and the scrambled channels are cleared. As for the channels, which channel list did you use? CWAITES (which can be found on this forum) is the suggested channel list to use.

this link will take about 5 posts above where your post is, im unsure on the advice as your in the openbox section but the images are all different as too are the install/updates made to firmware and so on some you dont use online updates via the box some you do, looks at the pinned posts anbove this post for your box read what they say and then create a post to that info and you will get a faster reply as any advice i have could send you down the wrong path

once you have entered your line. where it says offline you need to hightlight it and press the ok button to put a green tick then save and reboot box.

I tried this. it didnt change it stayed offline. I have rebooted the router and that hasn't helped either. I used the list in the upgrade by network. i will download the cwaite list now and see if that helps.

thanks for the replies all

Have you tried a different test line from a different provider? If you done the router reboot and followed leaders advise on the green tick then maybe the test is offline. Al;so if you are using a Ethernet cable have you checked with a different cable? Also check your DHCP setting too, does your box make a connection to the net?

have you entered it correctly. always best to enter using usb than manually. if you have tried everything mentioned above then your line is dead. most test lines or only valid for 24hrs.

You have incorrect firmware and need to update before playing with anything else.
Go to Downloads click on downloads at top of page and download the correct file for your box ie No 81 for v8s
or go menu--network settings--network upgrade --connect and install the correct file from the list, then download and install the latest channel list showing [not the portugese] Once finished your box should reboot but if not just switch off using remote and then back on--do not unplug.
Format a usb key to fat32 then add your CCcam.config and now ready to enter your line.

Thanks for your help. I updated with the correct file as you advised and still i am having the same issues. I assume since i can't even get all the FTA channels to work and that some channels aren't what they should be it is definitely an issue with the box. I will try and send it back to the seller.

thanks again.

If you can't get some fta then it's a possibility that your dish has moved slightly or your cables are loose.

Poeple are here to help so when you get your new box pop back and see let us know but as reaper said your dish may have moved so it maybe worth investing in a signal meter, they are cheap enough off fleabay and can come in handy

They all come in when i use my old sky box as a fta box so i think the dish is ok. I will have a look and see about getting a new box. I'm sure I will be back for more help then. Thanks again
