As always i leave the viark sat 4k on with sky cinema for example only turn off the television the receiver switches itself off After 7 hours it may be that it was built into the firmware pt to prevent illegal streams from pt1.12 was it like that?and although the pt.1.15 HDMI cec control function can not be turned off ???

as Manic and Ferret say, Viark Sat 4k. I have had the box for 4 month now and its been excellent. Very rarely is the server down or any glitching. I mainly use it for 28.2e but just managed to get connected to 16e and the quality is excellent. Search for Kegnkiwis guide if you get the Viark sat 4k, you will be up and running in no time.

That is the reason it does it, to stop people leaving it on an encrypted channel for days or weeks at a time when it is not being used.

If people like you were to switch to a fta channel when they are not using the box, or switched it off, then they would not need to have put this into the firmware.

If every forever box owner constantly left their box running on a encrypted channel, can you imagine the load put on the server ?

It would not and cope be unreliable, i, for one, am pleased they do this and think 7 hrs is generous. Its only a matter of changing channels or a restart at worst to carry on watching.

In the days of real Card Share before it was seen as a money making opportunity, you would get banned for continual use like you would like.

If you're not watching it put it in standby mate.
 
Just a quick question on GTmedia V8 UHD
I have put Mars firmware on the box.
I know the box ID changes from original firmware. If I put new Mars firmware upgrade on would the box ID change again.

No it will remain the same as it is now.

I am thinking of trying to add a channel list, so if it doesn't quite workout I can refresh and not lose connection to Mars sever

Still on a learning curve with mine, just back it up on the usb.
I used the channel list thats on here , just need to give it a little edit. When I have time.

You can reflash you wont loose the server, the box serial number remains the same after reflashing and that is basically the server login.
 
I was just checking because before I was on Mars server I tried to add channel list I was unable to see list and also lost the ability to scan, so I reflashed.
Reading more it may have just been because I never rebooted the box.

Not advisable to use lists made on a Viark on a V8 and visa versa for this very reason.
 
I know you do not agree with me.

But as I have said before, you can use the same lists on both boxes without issue, as long as you download the full sized channel list, and do not use the sat 1113 option which compresses the channel list.

The only issue, is that the favourites do not get renamed (the title of the categories) and you may have to reset the lnb settings.

Everything else works just fine though.
