Viark VIARK TYPE BOXES

Just took a gamble on a new GTCombo box that popped up on our local Facebook Marketplace - supposedly they're getting Mars FW very soon.

Fingers crossed it does come through.

It seems to have a Wifi type remote (or really good IR) as I can stand outside the room and it works fine.

Seems to have HDMI CEC support as well - saying that this is the non MARS firmware so who knows what it would be like if it gets that.

£60 ?

Yeah saw it pop up and seemed a great price so went and got it from near Elland Road, it will be a right bargain if they ever get Mars going on it.

It's been tested before for sure but at that price happy if he's wiped his knob on it

lmfao

It seems an interesting box for sure, but other than being a bit faster, i'm not sure what the gain would be over the V8 (it's still only single sat tuner).

Very good point mate - it's got the extra grunt in the bank if they ever have another go at the UHD channels so may have the legs to do those.

I've never used an Android sat box before so quick learning curve.

It'll be back in the box until Mars arrives, well I'll give it a spin on Freesat when the kids are in bed. It's got Xtream app too so will have a play with that.

Sat2IP app on there as well, saying that I'm guessing any Mars firmware may have that stripped out to stop them using it for IPTV etc.

I set the folks up with the V8UHDs and they're not too happy about the small remote window, they're proper technophobes. Something like this is much easier for them.

I've got a couple of older Android boxes I dug out the loft earlier so hoping they'll fetch roughly what I just paid for this one.

I think there are homesharing (sat2ip) features on the base V8 fw, that was removed with Mars (can't say for sure as I didn't actually bother to look at the stock fw), so yes I would expect it will be removed from the Combo also when it's released (just guessing but seems logical).

Yes mate it was in there, they're locked down quite heavily these chuffers on Mars - I guess so it makes it harder for anyone to rip their work off. It's that similar it's got to be the same people did the firmware for V8UHD as the Viark

I've been trying to get the signal around the house via HDBaseT extenders but they're not reliable on the wiring we've got. I won some cheap HD over IP adapters to test so hoping that will at least get the wife on.

E2 is mega for getting signals around the rest of the house.

Make a great looking doorstop real trend setter 🤣

It's a nice looking doorstop - someone there loves their black and orange colour scheme at the minute!

No sat button on the remote so guessing it might be a PITA swapping sats in the future
Viark sat non 4k does not have a sat button, it's something like menu, F1 for sat. As these are supposed to be similar software it might be something as easy as that.
