No need I am working spot on on older firmware
The GTMEDIA v8uhd latest firmware update no big changes
Change log:
1. Optimize the search for low symbol rate channel
2. Optimize the biss auto function
3. Optimize ip audio function
4. Solve the playback problem of some patch channel (58W powerVu, 99W Tanberg, Nagravision etc)
5. Solve the subtitle problem of 16E Total TV
6. Solve the problem of TP and channel search sorting
7. Solve the playback problem of Xstream/Stalker
8. Channellist and Infobar add display information
9. Solve hot keys function under YouTube menu

Depends on your budget, viarks for me others will say gtmedia.

Anyone know why you cant use a USB remote/mouse on the GT Media V8UHD ?

Why not use the proper remote ?
Do you buy the subscription separately or it's included already

The viarks come with a subscription included. The sat 4k gives the longest sub. You can have the basic sub or convert it to sp1 but it takes some time of the length of the sub. The how to tells you how to do it.
