Installing Infinity is all sorted and back to normal.
Hi
I'm still unable to install infinity!! It gets to an older version was found and removed, proceeding to installation then sticks to configuring setup, am I one of the bad end users or is there anything else I can do?

Yes one of those, no one can foresee when the files become corrupt or whatever occurred, and there's 4500 posts of problems behind you.
Half a dozen of them relate to last night's outage, the rest are mostly user error

The pattern suggested this was bigger than user error it wasnt hard to see, thanks anyway.

there was no pattern, two people couldn't install it when i posted that, scroll back through the 277 pages and see if there's any other patterns, these posts appear every day of every week

Unfortunately if there are issues I don't know until someone posts about it. If I am in a position to flash the box quickly I will to test. Most problems though, as this is the first issue in months are, as pablo says, down to user error. Posts are repeated time and time again and the solutions are always the same. Flash the box first, Xtream and e2iPlayer are third party plugins and so on.

Define User error
A user error is an error made by the human user of a complex system, usually a computer system, in interacting with it. Although the term is sometimes used by human–computer interaction practitioners, the more formal human error term is used in the context of human reliability.

It isn't meant as an insult.

The exact issue yesterday / today was the Infinity file server doing an update yesterday and changing security permissions. These permission changes in turn stopped the downloading of just one important file Infinity needs. Until one of us has chance to flash a box ourselves it isn't always simple to diagnose.

I count 5 reporting similar issues, I don't have to go through the rest of the thread to see that a number of users were experiencing the same problem within the same timescale, that's enough for me, anyway thanks for your suggestions for resolving the issue.

Flash the box again and try again.
Hi
I must be user error as the set up seems to taking too long, I have flashed several times but it still doesn't get past the configuring on terminal!
I have forced boot after waiting an eternity but it crashed on initialisation and when I skipped that I got plug ins that were either unknown to the box or failed to load with the process stuck on a loop.
I took the internal hdd out to see if that was a issue but it is still on configuring and will not boot on its own any help would be appreciated zgemmah7s

There could be 7/8/9 people reporting issues 99.9% of time it's down to end users either not following the install guide or flashing over 6.1 or missing opkg install out as @wooshman has stated he can only check a problem if it's an image problem and if it is will always be rectified asap

What methd are you using the flash openatv 6.2?
if online, try using a usb, flash files are here:
http://images2.mynonpublic.com/openatv/current/index.php?open=zgemmah7
reboot box and router before starting afresh
make sure usb is formatted (FAT32) before putting the unzipped flash files on
once it gets to HDMI settings on screen follow infinity installation instructions via openwebif

Hi
Yes I have done all that! I have flashed with every 4 versions on the site, when I put the terminal on not much happens.
I haven't rebooted router so will try that.
Cheers mate

If you get an error message in the terminal window can you send a screen shot please. Once you type the OPKG command the box should restart.

If it does that, where is the box getting stuck? Photos really help.
There is no picture to send I'm getting the set up box after 5 mins and the configuring enigma2 plugin ext wbi easy set up then nothing happens

That might be my next move cheers
Hi tried 6.3 still nothing !! It doesn't want to communicate with the box, I will have a break from it now.
I was thinking of trying another image openvix but I need plugin for subs and I'm unsure if its on that

You are typing the right ip address in for openwebwif for your box and not a different box I your home if you have one

ok with just plain openatv on the box, try a network test as it sounds like you aren't connected:
menu>setup>system>network>device setup>network test
you want all green ticks
the PC is communicating with the box via the router, (command is running) but the router isn't allowing the box to connect to internet, you may need to change nameserver settings
