ok thats interesting.. i wouldn't know stuff like that!! pc says stick has maximum available space.
im gonna buy a new usb stick and try that. thanks

sorry....i should have updated you all....i managed to flash it. the problem was the extracting of the zip file on my laptop, i was right clicking on the zip file and clicking 'extract' using what must be the laptop's own software and for whatever reason it wasn't working. anyway i installed 7zip and tried using that to extract, when I right clicked on it there was about 4 different ways to extract, first couple didn't work but when I did it the 3rd way and then plugged the usb into xtrend, the xtrend button on the front blinked as its supposed to, then i touched the blinking button and it started reflashing.
all that is probably second nature to you techies but file transferring, extracting, etc is all new to me so was a bit of a headf##k lol. anyway you learn as you go along so its another lesson learnt. thanks for all the input and sorry I forgot to update earlier.
