Openbox v8s killing wifi

Got a mate with a v8s

when plugged in to his router, his wifi doesn't work (for his laptop etc)

Any ideas?

use homeplugs you can get them cheap enough from ebay

His box is wired directly to router, 1m Ethernet cable...

you shouldn't have an issue unless you have really poor download speeds then it is advised only have you skybox running when watching tv and do nothing else.
