Guide A guide to the best boxes for IPTV 2021

I can mate , I have an apple TV 4K , 2 x shields , an ONN $20 box and have justreturned from the states with the new ONN $50 version which I will post with my thoughts on as soon as I unbox it and give it a spin.
The Apple box is my main device , its way snappier than the shield its tha absolute dogs imo.
Tivimax on it is same as tivimate on the shield. Plex App runs all my own vod content.
I don't have a need for any other apps.
Translation:
I use apple, therefore I have excluded myself from using 90% of iptv providers and have restricted myself to the Facebook and other public sellers

My sister has had an apple tv 4k box that she used before IPTV.

She now has IPTV on it and it does seem great but as above limited apps so not much good if provider doesn't want to give out DNS they can't use providers hard coded apps.
Sensible talk again Big D these apple users have a gun to their head every time. My business phone is apple its superb but for ipee a pile of crap. Unless you can access M3u total waste of space unless you request on here and the kitchen sink will be thrown at you.

Tbh it does the job if you already have one and don't have another device if you can find a provider that will allow DNS.

Seen some iOS apps that can add Mac address and register the details online that the provider can do but they have to pay for the apps.

Eh ? I don’t use public sellers mate. I have been an IPTV user for well over a decade. I have reliable provider who gives me his dns. TiviMax on the Apple TV is the equivalent of tivimate on an android box. With the added bonus that it is a superior user experience. Same with the plex app . The only mainstream app I have on it and use rarely is iplayer. In answer to the the above post , I also have TiviMax on my iPhone which works perfectly.

To be fair I think these apple boxes are used quite a bit in the states aswell. Although your other point don't think iptv has been around well over a decade

It suits your specific needs which is great but it’s tied down by iOS restrictions unlike AOSP.
That’s why devs develop third party apps for AOSP and ATV.

That’s why I like AOSP so much and don’t use google certified streaming devices because I don’t need any apps that require Widevine l1 restrictions that Google also enforce.

It was developed in states in 90s and was commercialised in 2002.
Not sure when it started being used illegally though.
I can’t imagine it took some bright spark to long figure it out though.

I have been using it nearly ten years but started off using free M3U playlist and then realised free is not always the best option lol.

Just had a quick check thru my conversation's on this site and my earliest was 2015 that offered me a service of IPTV.
Plus like others I dipped in the IPTV bit earlier using the M3u playlist from a few free sites but didn't last long. (I used VLC player or ace stream player to play them?)

EDIT : Just had a quick search about on site and this is the earliest thread I see on here. 2017.
But with site updates over the years I don't know if some have disappeared from archives.

At a guess I would have thought it probably started being used illegally in states being it was invented there.
My first paid sub was around 2016 but wasn’t from the this forum.
I also used VLC for the M3U playlist and Kodi also.

Just a google search shows its been around for sometime. Not as we know it today.
But still was out there and its improved over the years. Plus its become more and more accessible for joe public.
Google search

Yeah its come along in a short time so to speak, Bit crap and like you say expensive when it first showed its head.
Think I really got into it round the time of card share was about to hit the dust. played around with some sites that were out there throwing about free M3u.
Plus like Aristotle says Kodi was a blessing in the days. Or shall we say XBMC

Anyway the boxes out there now are just spot on plus the firestick even ya granny can use it.

Memory going south these days , but I had a sub to starstreams/smoothstreams literally from the day they first appeared. Their sports only sub was really the benchmark in the early days of iptv. What a brilliant set up they had. Haven’t kept up with the news , but the two guys that ran it must be in USA court soon.

And you will be next perhaps not in US court but on one of the admins naughty step for mentioning suppliers ( Just joking) :ROFLMAO:

Fed up with the complexities of sideloading onto fire stick, thinking a proper andriod tv stick is the low cost way to go, Gd1, wait for pending chromecast 2024, or something else?
