Firmware Upgrade?

Hi Guys,

New to the forum so please bear with me if I ask questions with obvious answers. I have searched elsewhere on the forum but cannot find a resolution to my problem. Basically, I am looking to upgrade my firmware so I can use the 7 day EPG. I have a SkyBox F5s, which currently uses the software version '3601HD_01_08_2013_0A5F', which from my understanding is incredibly old. I have followed the advice from the tutorial thread in the section, but whenever I attempt to upgrade the firmware, I get the error message 'upgrade file is mismatch'. Is there something else I should be apart from downloading the relevant file from skybox.cc onto a usb, putting usb into box, going to upgrade by usb, selecting the relevant image file and pressing start? Is it something I am doing wrong or is something wrong with the box. Any advice is much appreciated.

Thank you for your help guys. Christara - I did read the thread before posting mine and that was in fact the exact place I downloaded the software from! But I am still having the same problem of the upgrade file being a 'mismatch'. If it has worked for you and is not working for me, it is either something to do with the box I own or the manner in which I am trying the upgrade the software. I assume you own a F5s box, as I do, but did not encounter this problem?

Leslie - I am using the file with Christara has also recommend which I believe is for the SkyBox F5s, which is the box I have? Could you please point me in the direction of the version you believe I should be downloading?
 
It might have something to do with being a clone or something?

Download firmware. Use Winrar or any other similar program (7zip, IZArc etc.) to unpack it. Put it on a USB memory stick.

Insert memory stick into Skybox. Go to Menu > tools > upgrade by USB. Upgrade mode = Image File (*.abs).

Select your image in "upgrade file" box (if you have more than 1 image on the memory stick). "Keeping DBS & setting" = yes. Scroll to "Start" & press OK.

Although it should keep all your important settings, make sure your gift is already backed up to your pc or USB stick first.

Ok, I have downloaded the second download link you recommended and uploaded it onto the box. Now I have a fantastic IronMan picture as my background and a bunch of scrambled channels. Only the terrestrial channels are working and my server seems to have gone offline (I have backed up my server details), nor can I see the 7 day EPG I was hoping to get from the upgraded firmware. Any ideas?


I have just noticed that the one I have downloaded seems to be older than the one I originally I had (which I stupidly have not backed up). :sorrow:

You may be better off trying firmware update of the link below? (I belief they are more up to date.)

Has for your line. You may just need to turn your router and box off for it to come back online. (Failing that get in touch with your provider, Just to make sure all is ok at there end with the line.)
 
So, I looked at the link you recommend and one of the downloads worked. My channels are now working as per normal, but the firmware has remained the same and the 7 Day EPG is still not available? The first one which you recommend is the one remains on the box regardless of which firmware I attempt to upgrade it to. Having read further into the topic, it does seem as if I have bought a 'clone' box which means a lot of the firmware upgrades will not be compatible with my box. Does anyone know how I can find out what box I actually have, and where I will able to find the compatible firmware upgrades? I appreciate all the advice you guys have given me and would be grateful if you guys could help me resolve this problem!

Has for knowing which firmware is for your box am unsure on how to help with that. (Thats if its a clone.)
But found this thread http://www.techkings.org/skybox-f3-f5-f6/58086-skybox-f5s-clone-firmware-wanted.html which says if its a clone you might not be able to get the EPG?
