Services Cheaper With VPN’s

Sadly Optus is one of the unreliable services when used in UK. Can not be relied on for season. Has just taken a hit and knocked of a few DNS and VPN providers...season ain't started yet lol...but bet its great when your over there lol 👍
I do agree it was difficult a while back when I first tried it out - but was working great with ControlD/Windscribe when I was in Singapore in June and watching all the Nations League games.

Anyway, you’re probably right that Peacock is more reliable. It’s one of my favourite services - use it every day at the moment to watch TdF as they have the world feed without commercial breaks. Very superior to ITV coverage…

TdF ?

For anyone looking to get Paramount Mexico cheaper you can go the Argentina route as that works with Mexico and is a lot cheaper.

It works out ÂŁ1.20 a Month or ÂŁ11.73 a Year. I think after Hotstar this is the cheapest possible way to get all EPL Games next season.....

Good find! One thing i remember reading though about Argentina is that they add a huge amount of tax to digital services (or maybe everything) when you are about to pay... so keep a look out for that!

If I remember correctly you only have to pay the tax if your card is issued in Argentina.

I should move my HBO Max from Mexico to Argentina anyway, so maybe I’ll do the same with P+.

Out of interest, can you buy HBO Max in Mexico / Argentina and then use the US version? Or do you have to use the MX / AR version (though i guess, most shows are in English)

Yes. I have the standard MX sub and use ControlD to get the US content free of ads. The AR version is cheaper, and I assume that will work the same (have not done the switch just yet)

I've read all the comments but so much to choose from lol.

I'll be using an adroid box or firestick and control ID i'd like to avoid a vpn if possible so with that in mind what is the best subs to buy for football?

Sorry, because I knows this'll be buried several pages back, but can someone do me an idiot's guide to get Paramount, either in Mexico or Argentina please? I appreciate there's an international apk to use. I initially signed up, but regardless of what vpn I use, it always gives me it in pounds. It seems to show Mexican currency through the website on a browser, but won't let me pay for it, seems it would have to be through the app. Is it something to do with changing my Google play store?

Scottish football TV shake-up as Premier Sports sold for ÂŁ30m

Premier Sports, one of Scottish football's major broadcaster partners, has been taken over by Nordic streaming platform Viaplay in a deal worth ÂŁ30million.
It sounds like everything will stay the same except Premier Sports will be rebranded as Viaplay. Doesn't look like it will affect any rights although what the Scottish League Cup will be called could change

I know I have probably missed it over the last 64 pages but can some tell me why do you need ControlD if you have a VPN? do you still need both or does Controld remove the need for a VPN?

Removes the need for a VPN...its dns service with lots of flexibility. You can in settings point it to what services you want to clear. Also can customise some not usually available. Enter the given dns on device or router and your done.

I took a trial 30 days, I think they are still offering it, It worked for me about 3 days then my BT router kept blocking it.
Support has said it is a known problem with my router and the work round was a bit complicated for my know how!
So took a trial with Stream locator similar but simpler and slightly cheaper with a discount link

So if you have a VPN ie if you signed up for a year or two, what benefits would you get from ControlD. I see the website says no apps to install, so does that mean you need to change DNS Manually if you wanted to move from the Philipenes to Argentina?

No that's the benefit over a VPN..

With a VPN you turn it on and point it to country you want to clear and hence any services for that country.

With DNS you set it up on thr website where you have a list of services ..eg paramount, Sling etc etc...you choose to have them clear and you can have many to clear at same time eg a service in canada as well as one in Argentina as well as turkey..

Once set and dns is added ...those services should clear on your device ...without need for turning anything on or off...much simpler..but like all services make sure it clears what u need. Controld seems to have most flexibility with number of services it clears

As others have said, it removes the needs from faffing with a VPN and changing countries for different services. It’s a bit more set and forget.

You don’t need to change DNS on the device. You just log into the ControlD website and change the country you want a service redirected to. The devices will keep pointing to a ControlD DNS and they then redirect from their side.

For websites/services where you want to toggle between countries (eg Paramount Plus) there is no real advantage over VPN, but for ones where it’s static (eg Peacock to US and Optus Sport to Australia) it’s set and forget

Ah that makes sense to me now, so you just set your device to their dns, they then automatically make it look like you are in a country depending on the service you are using based on your account settings. So you can set their DNS on your router (Deco M4 for example) rather than on all your devices?
