After watching another drab performance from England against Denmark I was trying to figure out what's so badly wrong and why.
Is it Trent in midfield or Bellingham too deep?. Is it Foden out wide or Stones not driving out from the back like he does at City ?. Is it Saka looking like he couldn't go past my Grandma or Rice who didn't even look L2 level ?.
These are players who play week in week out at the highest level and have done from schoolboy level so what's wrong ?, why are we so bad when top players are all brought together?, well for me it's a mindset disease created by the senior players of acceptance and the post match interviews proved my concerns correct.
Those post match interviews said it all from Walker abd Kane and the manager as well. The way the accepted not just the result but the performance this to me spoke volumes of their mindset.
They will not accept they played bad or accept they need to massively improve to win the tournament they prefer the "We'll get better" comment.
This "Always looks on the bright side of life" attitude stems from a manager who's already been down the road of international defeat as both a player and a manager and the "Dust yourself down let's move on were top of the group, chin up chaps" just about says it all.
I'm not a lover of Lineaker but what he said and Shearer as well after the game was 100% correct regarding the whole attitude of the players but mainly to do with Kane. I've not seen both pundits so animated over Kane and the criticism was well over due.
Kane should retire after this tournament. His performance last night and not for the first time was a shocker. Now you can say well he scored but he also tried a 40 yard crossfield ball that lead to Denmark's goal.
He spent more time defending the edge of our box than attacking chasing down and theres a reason for this, he's seen to be doing.
if he stands on the half way line he couldn't beat me and he'd have to chase lost causes something he can no longer do now that father time has finally caught up with him.
Bellingham?, he's burned out he needs a holiday. At the backend of last season's La Liga he was average and even in the CL final he wasn't with it, the signs were there March April and he desperately needs a rest because against Serbia & Denmark it was clear for all to see.
Trent In the middle?, that's a Southgate attempt at doing the rabbit out the hat trying to replicate an Alex Ferguson moment were, you try something different and if it works you sit back wait for all the accolades while they say wow I would have never done that he's a genius, but sadly Southgate stab in the dark master plan has now sadly failed twice.
But back to it, those younger lads in the England setup they are been lead and brainwashed by a couple of senior players and a manager who are telling that last night was ok it's tournament football so don't worry when really the alarm bells are ringing like a Cathedral.
Then at a time in the game were we needed that injection of pace or a bit of flair/magic we bring on Gallagher and then Bowen both decent in there own rights but England quality ? sorry but no. And all the while Gordon and Palmer remained sat on their hands clearly frustrated.
Southgate Kane and Walker and even Trippier (been shocking for Newcastle) gladly accepted the performance against Denmark and even Serbia.Walkers comment of "Teams just don't blow other teams away in international tournaments anymore" was arse talk totally forgetting Germany 5 Scotland 1 .
As for Kane? do us a favour, hang your international boots up pal it's over for you the legs have gone m8. I'm sure he will after these Euros as I cannot see him travelling to the other side of the planet on a weds night against so lower 3rd world country in a WC qualifier.
Those players who played last night showed nothing, no energy, lack of belief lead by senior players who are clearly past there sell by dates. You cannot look up to a captain and senior players when their performances are so sh*t i know I'd be bordering on you need shape up rather than telling us to.
One final comment, Pickford, personally I don't think he's good enough. His body language the way he blames and points the finger plus for me Pickford is too small.
Had there been a taller keeper he tips that round the post. Then a m8 said last night, that's bollucks look at Shilton he was same height
To which I replied
And he cost us a World Cup Final with semi final looper, taller keeper tips that over.
I bet you Utd fans out there are elated Hags stopping, imagine that style of play at Utd with Southgate in charge?
