Hard drive that doesn't sleep?

is this a possibility? What are people using for timeshift and recording? I got a wd elements but it goes to sleep after 10 minutes apparently its a feature of wd drives...

I've been using a toshiba canvio 1tb for about a year with no issues

No, I just plugged in and initialised.

I remember burning some software to a cd a while back to stop that issue with WD drives. It should be a simple fix -

yeah that's true lol, another reason why I only like to buy boxes with internal HDD support.

I don't know what the difference is between the 'ready' and 'connect II', I've used the Ready on boxes for customers and use the Basics on my own box and both appearance wise look the same and both work well.

I tend to use toshiba memory sticks and hdd as I've used them both and found they work without issue, I actually put toshiba internal drives in the H7C's as well if I can get them.

not that i've noticed, I use mine as a network drive on second box so even if box it is on is in standby I can watch on second box

let me guess it powered by usb port only,externally powered by mains will work and spin down.
