Rip off car insurance

absolute madness.

each year my no claims discount goes up by a year along with my premium??
my business car is a 2 year old audi a4 and i pay less for that than personal car insurance. only thing is you dont get NCD with business insurance.

i hate the postcode lottery

well wheelo i wanted to rant ( sort of) but cant do it anywhere else lol! Dont get me wrong my son is not an excellent driver but his personality etc means hes not a madman behind the wheel and does realise. Yes he smashed the car a couple of months after driving - but on my drive, and not much damage - think that made him realise how easy it can be to misjudge. Both neighbours lads are "perfect" according to the parents - i never say that about mine lol! but hes sensible!!! thats what makes the differene with driving not some teenager who thinks coz hes got a pretty pink card he can drive like an idiot to show off to his mates - something my son dont do is show off!!

ohgosh forgot about this
Must admit cant complain this year, my sons insurance was much cheaper and he got a staff discount as he works for a supermarket chain, we have now insured our car with them and got a discount and also did home insurance with them. but the companies we were both with for car insurance premiums had gone up so much but when you do a price comparison they are much cheaper for same car same details. So as well as cheaper insurance this yr i also get triple nectar points :)

I have to move insurance companies every year to try and keep it down and u have to watch out for the auto renew they try and do

yes its only when you look down your renewal that you notice that - and when you ring to cancel they are not amused!! i said well if you were at least £150 cheaper like my new insurance i would have stayed with you But they put it up around £100 from last yr and on compare sites it was cheaper than my renewal. Even my house insurance was the same cheaper on compare sites with the same company. As a customer already they should look after you and give you discounts - but thats not the case anymore.

The good thing is my car and house insurance is due within days of each other so i only get the damn calls for a week or 2. on compare sites or any insurance site you have to give them a telephone number, which i hate doing as you know they are going to spam you with calls

Ive been driving a company car for the last 15 years accident free just tried to get private insurance only to be told I dont qualify for no claims, what a rip off! :whacko:

some insurers will use your no claims you have at work but you have to ring them rather than use comparison sites, they jsut cotnact your works insurance for proof

I am 74 (honest) and have been with Saga for years , got the renewal for a 11 year old Ford Focus £529.00, fully comp and full NC, rang them up and complained, we have a 4 year old Mazda TS3 with them as well that was over £500 including breakdown cover on both cars. The guy at saga then reduced the Focus by £52.00 when I rang up complaining, I then said I was going to look elsewhere, went to AGE UK got a quote of £268.00 for exactly the same cover as Saga, went back to Saga and they matched it and reduced it to £267.00, that's a reduction of £262.00 against the original quote.

good for you! it pays to shop around!!! my sons was over £1000 last yr hes just paid £500 this yr now hes 20

Am well pissed off, been driving for 16yrs, then three yrs ago I opt for company car, it sounded good at the time but now I've gone back to my own car, my insurance cost is now back to what it was when I passed my test, anybody now why or how I can reduce it.

If your haven't had an insurance policy in your own name for more than 2 years, your no claims bonus expires. So you start back at zero no claims. Some insurers are more flexible in that kind of situation, but you would need to call them to find out. Specialist insurers like Adrian Flux are usually a good place to start. (y)

I'm a first time driver, and finally buying my first car now after passing my driving test a little over 3 years ago. Paying the initial rip off premium price, hoping it goes down to a suitable one some time..
