What does this service app thing do?
Is it compatible with the vuduo, if so where can it be downloaded?

It changes the default movie player, it can help with IPTV.

MENU > PLUGINS > GREEN BUTTON > SYSTEMPLUGINS > SERVICEAPP

It should be downloadable in plugins. It provides a different player

Have you set it up. Go to usage and gui settings/service app and change from original to service app and select ext3 player.
