Swapping hard drive

Hi guys, I would like some advice please. Just bought a new box twin cable receiver, and I'm checking if its ok to just transfer my internal HDD from my old box to the new one and then initialise when all set up?

I would back everything up from your old drive.
setup your new drive with epg picons whatever you had set up on it.

then ftp everything back over to your new drive from the backup / recordings, movies etc.
