Thinking of getting the BM5000s

Hi guys,

I was about to order the BM5000s but then read MGCAMD is better than Clines and Newcamd, does the BM5000s support MGCAMD? (I dont actually know what MGCAMD is!)

Is BM7000s better?

Thanks so much for your help!

Both boxes will take a C or N lines, it isn't so important which
you use, it's more important that you have a reliable server.

Don't cheap out on the server, approx £8 - £10 per month
should get you a good service.

You can buy 12months for about £30 on Ebay but you will
probably end up with an early cut off or a glitchy service

Not sure about MGCAMD but BM5000s is the replacement of the BM7000s

and it's a cheaper box then the blade7000s and the 7 day epg is a lot better but there are a few minor probs at the mo but this is to be expected as it is a new box and is being improved with every fw update. I'd recommend it and I've had the bm7000s before this

There are basically three different "protocols"

The preferred pecking order in theory is

MG Camd (basically an N line, the "N:" at the start of the line is replaced by "CWS=") it is supposed to cache memory better and give you less glitches
Newcamd (N Line)
CCcam (C Line)

However the protocol is just like a programming language that lets the server
communicate with your box.

If you have a good server in the first place it doesn't really matter
which you use, the overriding factor is how good the server is.

BM7000s is the better box, BM5000s is the newer cheaper version so if you want to pay
an extra £70 for the older box you get a better remote control and better menu layout
other than that the functions are the same.
