Watch one channel while recording another?

Can you watch one Virmin channel while recording another with a box that has only one DVB-C port at the back? or do you need two DVB-C ports to do this?

Depends on the type of reciever and tuner, boxes with twin DVB-C hybrid tuners only need 1 DVB-C feed but internally have 2 tuners so you can record 1 and watch another channel, on different transponders. Zgemma H3.2TC, H5.2TC and H7C have Twin DVB-C hybrid tuners and 1 x sat tuner. But the H3.2TC, H5.2TC are discontinued models now... H7C is still available.

Thank you so if the description of your receiver says: "Hybrid DVB-C" then the single input port is actually a dual "Hybrid" port? Is there any way to see in OpenATV settings if you have a Hybrid DVB-C tuner or a single DVB-C tuner?

wait o_O doesn't "hybrid" mean a single port that can be used for either DVB-C or DVB-T2 (Cable/Terrestrial)?

so do some DVB-C tuners only allow one channel at a time and other DVB-C tuners allow watching two?

When you say "record 1 and watch another channel, on different transponders." do you mean that you can record a program on cable while watching another program on satellite or record and watch both on cable?

There is no such thing as "Hybrid DVB-C tuner"

A hybrid tuner can be set to be Terretsrial or Cable. You get twin hybrid tuners as well as single hybrid tuners. The twin tuners only have one connection for the signal wire and have the splitter built in.

ok let me rephrase again. If your box has only one DVB-C/T port but is labelled as a "twin tuner", can you record two different programs at the same time?

can you give me an example of a "twin" hybrid tuner?

Better do more reading then you will understand

With a single tuner receiver, you can comfortably record more than 6 services/channels. Provided they are on ONE frequency.
With a twin tuner receiver, you can comfortably record more than 12 services/channels. Provided they are on TWO frequencies.

So, if frequency 1 has only one channel you want, and frequency 2 only has 1 channel, then you cannot view anything else from another frequency.

and this is all different with satellite? with satellite you can only watch 1 channel with 1 cable/port?

It's the same on satellite
so the frequency is satellite vs cable? You can record 6 different channels at the same time on cable or you can record 6 different channels on satellite? or you can record 6 channels on cable and 6 channels on satellite all at the same time?? has anyone tried this? I'm sure the receiver would blow up!
