Hi all hope everyone is grand.Can someone explain to me about these blade media boxes?are they a satelite version of the cable boxes like kryptview and starview?

I sort of get what your asking, YES it is a satellite box but sold as a genuine Sat receiver.
However, it is capable of receiving said channels for free, should you consider updating the firmware on the box and you own a sat dish of course!.
If you choose to do that, you will get everything for free. ;)
But We strongly advise you dont do it. :). lol

If someone from the general public where to purchase 1 where would they look?and would the outrageous act of updating the firmware be able to be done by the purchaser?

The "outrageous act" of updating the box is a piece of Pish lol, done via USB. (So I have been told)
