Box changing channel every few seconds

asking for a friend so please bear with me.
The box is connected and recieving channels through virgin but changes channel every 20 to 30 seconds.
Any help would be great

Openwebife? Has someone inside the house got the details for his box and is just winding him up by changing channels with openwebife?

Has he opened ports to view outside of network? someone could have access to it and messing around or worse taking details from it

Very doubtful he is 50 and not very tech minded and he's setting it up for his mother in law who will be in her 70's and not have a clue

I've seen someone mention before about having a universal remote and the same thing was happening to them. It turned out the remote was wedged in the sofa so buttons were pressed.
